Hello everyone!

September 26, 2010 By Lokness Leave a Comment

Welcome to my blog!

This blog is about four things: Eat, Cook, Learn, and Live

Eat: I love to eat. I just love food! There are many things for me to try in this world. I am adventurous, and I am not afraid to try every single things from different ethnic and cultures. It can be high-end dining or street food or home cook meal. I believe food is what ties everyone together. But if it is bugs, I may have to think again.

Cook: Since I love to eat, cooking seems to be the next logic step. Being away from my home country, Hong Kong, it is important for me to learn how to cook. It all began when I miss some of the great flavors from home. If I want that food, I will have to cook it myself. Other than home country food, I love to bake. Desserts make me smile. I know that I am not an expert in cooking, but I would love to share some of my favorite recipes.

Learn: There is always something to learn everyday. No matter it is the new way of cooking or a new food term, everyday is full of excitement. For example, I have found out recently that Peruvian use guinea pigs as good. Some people treat a specific animal as pet, and other cultures see that animal as food. That is ok, and we just have to learn to understand.

Live: “Live happily everyday” is my motto. I would share some of my feelings and interesting things about my life. There is so much to offer in this world. Either it is a good day or bad day, you have to live. If so, just be happy!

To continue w/ the happy mood, I’m sharing a sunshine kind of recipe, Blood Orange Sorbet.🍊 Tart, little sweet & a hint of floral. This pink sorbet is crazy easy to make that you just whisk everything together & pour into the machine. Easy breezy!

Bryan & I have been dreaming about these chicken t Bryan & I have been dreaming about these chicken tenders from Sesame Grill @sesamegrill_626 for a few days. These tenders are unlike any we had before. Crunchy crust, yet delicate & not too heavy. The meat is super juicy & soft. Very simple food, but really well executed! Sesame Grill was original a fine dining restaurant, they redid their menu because of the pandemic & started to sell tenders only. And that got really popular! Incredible story & hope they’ll continue do well. If you’re ever in the area, definitely check them out.

Char Siu with Rice (叉燒飯) is a dish that I ca Char Siu with Rice (叉燒飯) is a dish that I can never get enough. Since I didn’t live close to a Chinese restaurant for a long time, I have been making my own for years. This week, I finally reshot the photos & gave a quick update for the recipe. Juicy & tender pork coated in a slightly sweet BBQ sauce, then top them over some hot steamed rice with a sweet soy sauce. Every bite is so satisfying!

Almost every year, I make holiday treats for famil Almost every year, I make holiday treats for families, friends & Bryan’s coworkers. (Except last year, because we just moved to Northern California.)🎁 Year after year, I was told that their favorites are the marshmallows!
.
Homemade marshmallows are really something special. Soft & pillowy, and they’re usually less sweet & flavored. I have 3 flavored marshmallow recipes on the blog, chocolate, raspberry & orange. Chocolate is no doubt the most popular. If you prefer something fruity, raspberry is the one to go. If you’re looking for something unique, definitely try the orange.
.
Don’t ask me to pick a favorite, because I do love them all. Another plus about marshmallows is that they last for at least 2 weeks (likely longer), so you have plenty of time to give them out to friends or finish them yourself!
